Artisan Engineered Wood Flooring
Hand Finished in the Cotswolds
The Finest Flooring, Crafted To Last.
The integrity of an engineered wood floor is hidden beneath the surface. While mass market alternatives often rely on thin veneers and unstable softwood cores, a Natura floor is an exercise in over engineering. We build our planks to withstand the structural demands of modern living without sacrificing the soul of traditional timber.
The Substantial Wear Layer
At the heart of our collection is a commitment to longevity. We specify a 4mm to 6mm European Oak wear layer a thickness comparable to traditional solid wood. This generous proportion allows the floor to be professionally sanded and refinished multiple times over decades, ensuring that the "patina of life" can be refreshed whenever the interior evolves. Unlike 2mm "multi-layer" alternatives that are essentially disposable, our wear layer represents a lifetime investment.
The Birch Plywood Core
Stability is the hallmark of luxury engineering. We exclusively use a high density Birch Plywood core, cross laminated for maximum dimensional stability. This structural choice is critical for the UK climate; it allows the timber to expand and contract naturally without warping or cupping. It is the gold standard for compatibility with underfloor heating (UFH), providing superior thermal conductivity and peace of mind in contemporary architectural builds.
Curated Oak Grades: From Prime Elegance to Rustic Character
Choosing a grade is about selecting the narrative of your home. Because we source our timber directly from European mills and oversee the finishing in our own workshop, we provide a level of oversight and value that traditional high street showrooms cannot match. By removing the distributor markup, we ensure your investment goes entirely into the calibre of the oak and the precision of the craft.
The Prime Grade: Architectural Purity
Selected for its clean grain and minimal knotting, our Prime Grade provides a sophisticated, uniform canvas. It is the ideal specification for open plan architectural projects where the focus is on light, space, and understated luxury.
The Nature Grade: Balanced Authenticity
The "true soul" of the oak tree. This grade features a harmonious blend of clear grain interspersed with small, healthy knots. It offers enough character to feel organic and "alive" without dominating the room’s design language.
The Rustic Grade: A Storied Texture
For projects requiring a sense of permanence, our Rustic Grade celebrates the oak's journey. Expect larger knots, dramatic grain swirls, and a deep, storied texture perfect for Cotswold cottages, barn conversions, or heritage restorations.
A Note on Selection:
While the aesthetic of each grade is distinct, the structural integrity remains identical across our entire collection. For more information on grading and our timber selection explore our Wood Flooring Grades Explained
The Cotswold Workshop: Bespoke Finishing & Provenance
The true distinction of a Natura floor lies in its final journey through our Gloucestershire workshop. Unlike mass produced flooring that sits in a third-party warehouse for months, our wood is managed by a family run team that understands the nuance of every grain. By maintaining a direct from mill relationship with the finest European timber sources, we eliminate unnecessary markups. This allows us to invest more in the quality of our oils and the precision of our craft.
A Legacy of British Craftsmanship
We believe a floor should be as unique as the architecture it supports. Our artisans hand apply natural oils and lacquers, ensuring a depth of colour and a tactile finish that machine-sprayed alternatives cannot replicate. This "slow" finishing process allows the oak to breathe and develop a rich, natural patina over time.
Bespoke Commissions & Trade Specification
Because we control the process from the mill to the final oiling, we offer a level of flexibility that is rare in the UK market. Whether you require extra wide planks, specific long lengths, or a custom finish to match a specific design palette, our workshop acts as your creative partner. We don’t just supply flooring; we provide the technical expertise required for the UK’s most prestigious interiors.
